Kaapu Kattu (sacred protection ceremony)

9:00 am

Traditional Indian

As part of the wedding celebrations, the Kaapu Kattu ritual is performed to bless the bride and groom with protection and well-being before the sacred wedding rites begin. A holy thread, sanctified through prayer, is tied around their wrists by the family priest, symbolizing divine safeguarding against negative influences and invoking auspicious energy. Surrounded by close family, this intimate pooja sets the tone for the days ahead — grounding the couple in blessings, purity, and the love of those dearest to them.

Sangeet and Mehendi

6:00 pm

Traditional Attire

A Sangeet is a vibrant pre-wedding celebration in Indian weddings. It's a festive event filled with music, dancing, and merriment, where both families come together to celebrate the upcoming union. The word "Sangeet" translates to "sung together" from Sanskrit. Traditionally, it was a women-only gathering, but modern Sangeets are often co-ed and include a wider range of family and friends. Mehendi ceremony, also known as henna or mehendi, is a pre-wedding celebration in many South Asian cultures, particularly in India, where the bride-to-be and other women have intricate henna patterns applied to their hands and feet.

Wedding

8:00 am

Traditional Attire

Rooted in tradition and celebrated with joy, a Tamil Brahmin wedding is a beautiful blend of sacred rituals, family blessings, and heartfelt celebrations. The ceremony is marked by ancient Vedic customs — from the Kashi Yatra (a playful ritual symbolizing the groom’s journey toward married life) to the tying of the mangalsutra that seals the bond. Each step signifies love, commitment, and the blessings of generations before. With music, laughter, and the aroma of traditional South Indian cuisine, the wedding is not just a union of two people but of two families, bound together in celebration and harmony.
