How We Met

Look, it took a minute.👀💀

Elliot’s POV: It all started when the Chick-Fil-A I got hired at never scheduled me to work, so I switched to the one in North Riverside. I remember meeting my boss and her introducing me to my trainer. She was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen and her name was Anyce. We became best friends and hung out all the time. After Anyce left CFA we stopped talking and only checked in with each other every so often. Years later she texted me and we made plans to grab dinner and catch up. We ended up spending the next two weeks with each other and I started catching stronger feelings. She invited me to a Cubs game and I knew that after the game I would confess my feelings to her. The car ride home felt like an eternity and when I got to her place I stopped her to tell her how I felt. She looked at me and said “ummmm I need to sleep I’m tired”. After ghosting me for a couple of days I called her again and we went to dinner. She ended up asking me if I wanted to be her boyfriend and I said yes. Obviously. Anyce’s POV: Okay, so here’s what “really” happened. I was working at CFA as a trainer in February 2018. I was introduced to Elliot and was told to train him. I thought he was so cute! (Like he was a little friend.) Then he told me he had a car and I was shocked. What 12 year old has a car before me? He in fact was 16. Skipping ahead; we would hang out whenever a group of coworkers would. I thought he was pretty cool and after a couple of months I began to have a crush. One of my coworkers told me we’d be cute together and I decided to tell him I liked him. Of course the moment I wanted to tell this man, I found out my good friend at the time liked him and he liked her. I just let it be and they dated. It was what it was. **1 year later** The year was 2020. Covid was poppin and I hadn’t talked to this man in a year. I hit him up and we decided to get pizza. He had grown so much since I last saw him and we just caught up. He told me his most recent girlfriend and him broke up and he’s been bettering himself. Then a couple days later we went to see the sunset. Of course we didn’t think and sat at the lake not realizing the sun sets west and not east. Dumb. He thought it was a date, but I didn’t… After that, we got Panda Express and sat to talk in my car for hours. My feelings started to come back for him during that time and I thought he’d kiss me, but he didn’t.🤷🏽‍♀️ Anyway, I invited him to a Cubs game in Milwaukee and we had an amazing time seeing Wilson Contreras! He drove us back and I fell asleep during the ride. Once we got outside my apartment, he confessed his feelings to me. I was half asleep so I told him I’ll text him later. (In my defense, I WAS HALF ASLEEP.) This man messaged me at 12pm the next day asking for an answer. Boy I just woke up! Anyway, I told him I don’t know yet. I liked him, yes, but I didn’t want our friendship to be ruined god forbid we broke up. A couple days later, we went to see the sunset, for real this time, and I kissed him. The next day, we were at a Popeyes drive through and we made it official. I asked him of course.❤️

The Proposal

7.4.23

Proposal story July 4th, 2023 It was a beautiful sunny day and we just docked in Labadee, Haiti. I knew that I was going to propose so my goal was to look for the perfect place to pop the question. Shortly after we got off the cruise ship I found a really pretty spot right next to the ocean and I knew that’s where I wanted to ask Anyce to marry me. We went on with the day and I slowly told all of her family where I was going to propose so that they were prepared. Fast forward and we changed out of our swim suits and went to make one final stop before heading to the “proposal” spot. I made the mistake of wearing pants and a nice shirt and I was dying from the heat. I started to get nervous as if I was about to ask her out for the first time all over again. As the butterflies continued we made our way to the spot and I whispered a little plan to her parents to get ready to video. We took really cute couples photos and it was time for me to pop the question. We walked closer to the water then I said something to her, I don’t really remember what, but I know it was corny. I got on a knee and remember tearing up as I asked the love of my life “will you marry me” and of course she said yes.
