Growing up, Chris and Jess had always known of each other’s existence, but did not meet until summer of 2014. Looking back, it almost seems like fate or the work of a subtle matchmaker. Going back to 1989, Jess’ parents held their wedding reception at the Appel Inn. At this time, Chris was 3, Danielle was on the way and Jess wasn’t a thought quite yet. Sandy Dollard was the mutual friend that kept communication between Chris and Jess’ parents over the years. Chris spent his years growing up traveling the world and Jess had been pursuing her education in Vermont. The two never crossed paths until the summer of 2014. Both Chris and Jess happened to be home for the summer enjoying time off from their most recent endeavors. Sandy continued to play a key role in their story asking both to help with home renovations. The two were introduced and spent many hours working together. Eventually, long hours of painting led to water skiing and dinner dates. Like every year, summer came to an end. Chris returned to traveling with the Ski Team and Jess prepared for grad school. The two continued to talk most days throughout the winter months and by spring were back to spending most of their time together traveling, hiking, boating and officially meeting the rest of the family. Chris continued to spend his winters coaching while Jess completed her doctorate in Virginia for the next three years. They both decided it was time to lay some roots down in the same state let alone country once Jess graduated and so the two started their life together in Altamont, NY. The two have since been, as you all know - building a barn! The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree in this story - home renovations, and getting married where it all started back in 1989!
