Bogota's motto is "2,600 mts closer to the stars" (That's 8,660 ft!). Weather is quite moody within the Spring/Fall ranges (8-20 C/40s to 60s F). Be prepared for rain or sun (or both, most likely). August is often windy, when we celebrate the month of the kites, so it might be a bit chillier in the evenings. Elevation change may make you feel a bit unwell the first couple of days. But symptoms should go away soon. Some coca tea or coffee help!
As a big city in South America, there are some general safety precautions we recommend. * Best to use ride apps over flagging down taxis, even for short distances * Keep your phone hidden, and bags closed (arm over bag) * Avoid walking in particularly dark or quiet areas, specially at night (the area around the hotel is lively at all times) * If you feel uncomfortable, take a rideshare over walking * Avoid flashy items * For nightlife, we recommend not leaving drinks unattended, never leaving the party by yourself and always taking a rideshare, no matter how close. Traffic is.... bad. Assume things will take longer than expected, and leave with ample time before you're expected somewhere.
