Old Town Warrenton has a whole bunch of restaurants we enjoy, including Great Harvest for coffee, pastries, and delicious breads, Denim and Pearls for dinner, Molly's Irish Pub or O'Brien's Irish Pub for drinks, and Claire's at the Depot for brunch or dinner! You can also explore the Old Jail Museum or take a run down the bike path.
One of the best fall activities in the Shenandoah is hiking - the views are incredible and so is the foliage. Old Rag is one of our favorite hikes in the area - it is a commitment, so if you plan to hike, we recommend blocking off an entire day! If you are looking for an easier hike, we recommend Mary's Rock, which also has stunning views but is a little more manageable.
Enjoy Virginia's renowned foliage driving up and down Skyline Drive! Make sure you stop at The Applehouse and get some cider donuts.
Whether you are staying in Warrenton or Alexandria, this winery is beautiful and a great fall activity!
Old Town Alexandria has many, many good spots to eat and drink. We recommend O'Connell's Irish Pub for drinks, food, and (late night) live music. For a grungier but still fun vibe, also with live music at night check out Murphy's. Vola's is a great option for seafood, Landini's has great Italian, and Jeni's has the best icecream you'll ever have. Ada's at the River was the restaurant we went to the night we got engaged and is one of our favorite spots! For breakfast- check out Chewish Deli for bagels, La Madeleine or Tatte for pastries, and La Fontaine for crepes. Virtue Feed and Grain also has a great brunch!
Tour George Washington's home in Mount Vernon, VA! This is located right next to Alexandria and has a great winery and restaurant on site.
