In 2020 when the world was stocking up on toilet paper and bathing in hand sanitizer, we were finishing our 1L years and were intent on transferring law schools. Little did we know what we would find in Tallahassee... Part of the largest class of incoming transfer students at Florida State University College of Law that fall, a majority of the transfer students chose to take courses in person at the university while most of our non-transferring peers elected to remain remote. Long story short, we ended up being in two in-person classes together in fall of 2020. We first spoke to each other in "Closely Held Business Organizations" taught by Professor Weidner, who absolutely loved to call on and accentuate Jan's name ("oh, Jaaaaaaaaan"). Though we both caught each other's attention then, even from behind the face masks, our relationship wouldn't begin until spring of 2021 when we ended up in two more classes together. It was basically fate! From there, we became inseparable. Cooking, playing games, puzzling, listening to vinyl, and exploring new places are some of our favorite things to do together. We managed to make it through finals and many other personal trials before graduating law school in spring of 2022. Right away, we began studying for the Bar Exam- together. For anyone reading this who hasn't had the displeasure of being personally victimized by the Bar Exam, who doesn't understand what studying for the Bar together means... it is incredible that we managed to not kill each other! On the contrary, we actually learned a lot more about one another, like our communication styles and thinking processes, and we developed a special appreciation for our individual unique strengths and weaknesses. Through law school, the Bar Exam, at least 8 moves, the first few years of our careers, and a million other things in between, we have always had each other's backs. In fact, one of the things we always say is "we're best friends and teammates before anything else." We enjoy each other's company so much that most days, we look forward to shutting off the world and just being together. We are excited to start this next chapter of our lives as we build a family and continue to build a life that we love. We are loved by so many, and it is an honor to now share and celebrate our love with you!
