The Getty
As a child Antonia, visited the Getty many times and it was one of the first places she wanted to take Gabe to when he came to California. We highly suggest visiting. It's one of the most stunning architectural works, it's free and they have an amazing photography collection but if arts not your thing just touring their gardens and seeing the city from the mountainside is worth the visit.
Malibu Creek State Park
We love Malibu Creek State Park, it has beautiful fields, trees blasted apart by lightning, a watering hole you can swim in, epic mountains, a water tower you can explore, oh and they filmed a LOT of movies here. Planet of the Apes? M*A*S*H? etc. Great for beginning hikers, look out for snakes
La Brea Tar Pits and Museum
Yes there are active tar pits in the middle of the city of Los Angeles. It's absolutely wild and the coolest, smelliest spot to check out. We both love prehistoric beats and the wall of dire wolf skulls is so worth it to see in person. Don't fall in.
