Antonelle and I met back in October of 2014 on her first day working in The University of Scranton’s Admissions Office. I worked as a computer technician at the time and was tasked with getting her laptop set up. I was almost immediately put off by her upbeat and seemingly naïve disposition, especially when she called me after I returned to my office to complain her speakers weren’t working (they weren’t turned on). In the following months, we would see each other socially through mutual friends. During those times Antonelle found my afterhours personality pretty distasteful, but slowly we grew accustomed to one another after repeated outings. Over the course of the year our friendship developed into a relationship and now I can’t imagine my life without her in it.

I wondered why he wanted to walk in the rain that day... On the afternoon of Saturday, September 14th 2019, Tom drove us to one of our favorite places for a walk, Lake Scranton. Since the weather wasn't ideal, there were only a few people there so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! After walking for 15 minutes, we reached the lake's pier. Usually something we pass on our walks, this time we decided to go on it. As we peered out at the water, we began talking about our future and how wonderful it would be to one day get married and have children. As I began to melt in the cuteness of our conversation, Tom interrupted by asking, "Well, would you mind if we start right now?" In a matter of seconds between my utter disbelief and pure joy, I yelled "YES!" just as he asked, "Will you marry me?" Tom's knee barely touched the ground.
