Areas to Stay in Budapest

Here are areas we suggest to stay in Budapest: (#1 Recommendation) V. District - This is the downtown area, loads of sights to see. Lively atmosphere with nightlife. I. District - "Castle District." Bordering District V., but on the Buda side. Close to Transportation HUBs. VII. District - Old Jewish District. Historical neighborhood with the most bars per square foot. VI. District - Broadway of Budapest. It is home to thriving culture. Fine places of entertainment, great restaurants, cafés and bars are abound in the neighborhood. XIII. District - Quieter neighborhood with good transportation network to get downtown very fast.

Hotel

Hotel Barceló

Based on value and location, we recommend Hotel Barceló! We also recommend looking to book an airbnb in the areas listed in the above section!

Train

Public Transportation

To use public transportation, you need to pre-purchase tickets at designated areas. A single ticket is about $1. We recommend buying a 15-day pass (depending on how long you stay) It will cost you $20.

Travel Note

Cab Information

There is no Uber/Lyft in Hungary. We recommend using the app called "Bolt" (it's the same platform as Uber/Lyft).

Travel Note

Electric Scooter

A very good way to get around the city for cheap is using e-scooters. You can use "Bird" or "Lime." The only limitation is that you can not be drinking and riding (Budapest is a 0 tolerance city) and you have to leave the scooters in a designated parking area (which can be found on the app).
