Flight

Boutique Air

Boutique Air runs commuter flights from Merced, CA to two of California's bigger airports : LAX, and OAK. It can be more cost efficient to fly into LAX or OAK and then take the commuter flight up to Merced than to buy a ticket into the Fresno FAT airport. It's also a much shorter drive to the Merced airport, and there are plenty of people who would be more than happy to come and pick you up :)

Sacramento Airport (SAC)

Sacramento's airport is about 3 hours away from Mariposa, and is another good option since the flights are usually less expensive. One could easily rent a car and drive to Mariposa.

Fresno Airport (FAT)

This is the closest international airport to Mariposa, and is about 2 hours away. The flights tend to be more pricey, but if you time it right you can get a good deal. If you do not want to rent a car from this airport/area and drive up, it is more likely that someone will be able to come and pick you up than if you were to fly into the Sacramento airport due to distance.

Comfort Inn Yosemite Valley Gateway

This hotel is walking distance to the church where we will be married, is known for good service, and has good rates. Ask for the “senior rate” discount, and you’ll receive a 10% discount. This is not only for seniors, but for some reason the person in charge of the group rates told me to use that phrase instead of saying you’re here for the “Rowney-Vercio wedding”.

Yosemite West / Mariposa KOA

For those who would like to visit Yosemite or share the cost of sleeping arrangements with a group (I'm looking at you, WCC crowd), the KOA campsites and cabin rentals are perfect. You can take Hwy 140 for a 15 min drive back in to town from the campsite, or go in the opposite direction end up in Yosemite in about 40 mins. There is also a YARTS bus that runs directly from the campsite into Yosemite National Park.

Better room prices

Since the wedding weekend coincides with Memorial Day weekend, a lot of the hotels have higher prices than you may want to pay. However, Airbnb is very prominent in the area and will most likely be a better choice. There are a lot of lodgings very close to the church, and any listing that says that it’s in the actual town of Mariposa will be within a mile and a half or so from the church :)
