It was the year 2021. Kinjal just moved to Pittsburgh, a new city with no familiar faces, for her Master's. There's no better way to learn a new place than by going on a few dates. And, thus, led to creation of her Hinge profile. Anthony, a long-time Pittsburgh native, just so happened to also be creating his Hinge profile. He had already explored the city alone for most of his life and was ready to share the journey alongside another. Soon after, they matched. It started with jokes around fries being the BEST food to order on a date (per Kinjal, at least) and debating on "yinz" vs. "y'all" and "soda" vs. "pop". The conversations continued late into the nights until the two were ready to go on their first date. Anthony planned the date but didn't realize there was a Pirates game and a festival going on the same night... After pivoting from their first restaurant to Bar Louie, Anthony charmed Kinjal by saying her name right on the second try (lol). He would lean in to hear her soft voice and seamlessly held a conversation. Anthony was just happy he wasn't catfished, and she was even more beautiful than her profile pictures. He could tell she was nervous, but appreciated her bravery for putting herself out there when she was in a new city for less than a month. Things were going well, so the date carried on into a walk along the river. They continued with playful banter, sharing stories about their upbringing, their hopes to graduate soon, and what they want out of life when Anthony's friends texted him that they were at a nearby bar. Anthony offered to extend the date into the night, and Kinjal agreed. Kinjal was pleasantly surprised to see Anthony had a brown friend (shoutout Shiv), and Anthony was relieved his friends didn't scare her away. With a kiss goodnight and promises to see one another again, Kinjal headed home through the tunnels of Pittsburgh. Fast forward a few weeks later to 10/30/21, Anthony finally made it official on the way home from a Halloween party where the couple dressed up as Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. Kinjal and Anthony continued to share many memories and milestones... From Kinjal's MSW graduation in '22 to Anthony's MBA graduation the next year. From Anthony's first Indian wedding for Kinjal's brother to Kinjal's first Catholic wedding in Cancun. From Kinjal's golden 26th birthday to Anthony's dirty 30. From talking about their family dogs to getting their golden retriever, Goose. The two fell more and more in love, and Anthony knew she was the one. On their third-year anniversary, Anthony planned the most perfect surprise proposal by the same riverside from their first date. Kinjal had no idea that their dinner date was going to turn out the way it did because it was a WEDNESDAY, and she had previously told Anthony she wanted their families there. When Anthony got down on one knee, however, both of their families popped out to share their love. The rest is history as they continue to share their life together with you all here reading this.
