I am a dancer. People ask me frequently how Anthony & I met. His version is so much better than mine. But here’s my take...on the night my life would never be the same. It all began on the salsa dance floor. My girlfriends and I were all meeting to dance. It was salsa night at a local club. I was hesitant at first...for so many reasons. But mainly because, it was cold outside! I was also waiting for one my kids to ask me to do something else with them but moms of teenagers never get that much love. So, dancing it was. I was there first that night, I waited in the ladies room until the rest of my “crew” got there. As soon as one of my girlfriends said she had arrived...I walked out, noticed a tall table that was never usually there, and proceeded to the dance floor. Wepaaaaaa!!!! On my way, I felt a tap on my elbow, turned to look to see who it was. It was Anthony!
The abridged version; Feb. 03, 2012@19:30 , I received a call from Warren (Stick) a friend of 35 yrs. Stick asked me if I wanted to go out with him & Brooklyn Mike. Thinking to myself, I've not seen my friend in a while. So I said yes. Mind you, I was the 3rd person Stick called that night. 2 others couldn't make it. Realizing, names like Stick, Brooklyn Mike and Tony Dee, this night had fun at the least or an epic story at the best written all over it. I arrived early. I was disappointed in the atmosphere. I called Stick, & said, “This place is whack”. Stick said, “be patient”. I didn’t know it then but listening to Stick was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I took advantage of arriving early and found a perfect spot to post up. At "The Table". Stick was 1000% right. Things started to heat up. As Stick and Brooklyn Mike arrived. I bought a round of drinks. After some 'catching up" chitchat, I looked up to see a beautiful woman with an angelic aura walking toward us. She glanced at me. Stick said, “She looked...” and before he could say “at you” I left my seat to meet this angelic soul. I had 3 sec to ensure my game was tight. She was going to hit the dance floor in 4 steps. I needed to stop her. I don’t know how to dance Salsa. Should I be suave, should I be a “YO! shorty guy”, should I be a gentleman, or should I be funny? All I could think of is, don’t screw this up Tony. My deep voice might startle this beautiful woman, that's the last thing I wanted to do. 2 sec left, tapping her elbow, I decided to be a funny gentleman. Edelyn laughed at my joke. As the conversation progressed; (I could feel the chemistry oozing from our pores) I then said to Edelyn,“I am not sure if we are supposed to be together, but I really believe we were supposed to meet tonight. May I please have a moment of your time to get to know you?” I realized that night, when God places an angel in your life, it’s not your game that’s tight. It is Gods game that's tight.
