Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate the guests we've invited.
We've decided to keep day 1 of our wedding an adult-only event with a few exceptions for family. However, children are welcome to join us on Day 2, and we would love to celebrate with them then!
We’re celebrating over two days to honor tradition and create space for both sides of our story. Day 1 will be an American-style wedding, while Day 2 will reflect Eritrean customs with traditional food, music, and celebration. Having two days allows us to fully share each part of our culture with you in a meaningful way.
In a traditional Eritrean wedding, the celebration typically takes place over two ceremonial days. The first day usually includes the church ceremony followed by a reception. However, for our wedding, day one will be slightly different, as the ceremony will be held at the venue rather than at a church. The second day, known as melse, is a celebration of traditional customs, music, and culture. We are excited to share this special tradition with our family and friends. Guests can expect a lively and joyful celebration featuring traditional music, dancing, cultural attire, and delicious Eritrean food. Eritrean weddings are known for their strong sense of community, where family and friends gather to celebrate together.
Day 1 of our celebration will feature a delicious, thoughtfully curated menu blending comfort and elegance. Guests will enjoy a variety of small bites, a fresh seasonal salad, alongside Tuscan chicken and creamy gnocchi. The meal is paired with flavorful sides and warm rolls to create a memorable start to our wedding celebration. On Day 2, we’ll be serving traditional Eritrean dishes for each guest! You can look forward to injera (spongy sourdough flatbread), zigni (spicy beef stew), tsebhi (chicken or lamb stew), shiro (chickpea puree), and a variety of vegetable and lentil dishes.
Please include any dietary restrictions when you RSVP so we can do our best to accommodate you.
Day 1: Formal or cocktail attire Day 2: Traditional Eritrean attire is encouraged but not required. Guests are welcome to wear formal or cocktail attire.
