We met on the very first night of college orientation at Belmont University - assigned to the same group because we'd both enrolled in "Pros & Cons of Marxism" for our first year seminar. Golden hour, iconic Belmont lawn, hearts and minds open to a whole new world. Bailyn made the first move - approaching to ask about the Travis Scott mugshot tee Anthony was wearing. Anthony was in hot pursuit from there on... and seven years later, we are opening a brand new chapter of life together!
Bailyn: So I was three semesters into my four semester masters degree program at Sarah Lawrence. And I was miserable/burnt out. I worked Wednesday nights at a studio in Long Island and I was right in the middle of finishing up all my thesis work. I remember Anthony offering to drive me to Long Island because he noticed how tired I looked. He dropped me off and said he was going to hit up the local gym (turns out that was lie). He picked me up right on time and I started crying about how exhausted I felt. Anthony said to me “I think your luck is going to turn around very soon.” I thought he was speaking in general terms. We get home to the Bronx and we have boxes everywhere because we were moving to Brooklyn in the next couple weeks. I noticed the apartment looked cleaned and reorganized. I started crying because I felt so happy at the fact he would sneak home and clean the apartment. Then we get to the living room and Drowning Again by T-Pain starts playing (the song we had our first kiss to). Anthony bends down and I realize what’s happening. It was the most thoughtful and beautiful way to propose. Anthony: After months of meticulous planning with the family, I had a ring, a 4-day trip booked, and everything in place. After dropping her off at work, I prepared Bailyn a special meal (forgot to season the salmon, oops!), schlepped mountains of moving boxes we'd packed, and raced back to her all in 3 hours. Boy, was I nervous. She came home and cried just because I cleaned the apartment! Then, she cried even more when I got down on one knee.
