Coffee, Beignets, & Cowboy Hats

Her Story Anthony was competing in a chef's competition for a nonprofit Gala, and I was volunteering for the event, and our paths crossed at the event -- shout out to Pathways for Little Feet. I had just about sworn off dating, and I was asking the Lord to only bring a man who was truly in love with Jesus. I first saw Anthony & his cowboy hat & was immediately intrigued, and the beignets helped. I then recognized his name & realized he had done a cake for one of my friend's weddings - a cake I still talked about 5 years later - and we made the connection. I, loving cake & Jesus, and knowing Anthony loved cake & Jesus, couldn't pass up the opportunity to get his business card to see if he'd be down for coffee. To which Anthony was shocked and loved the boldness but still the very "ball in your court" type of ask. Anthony asked me to coffee, at Tenfold, a week later & the rest is history! I remember calling my best friend, Ivy, and even she could hear the difference in my voice after this date. By date two I knew I was going to marry Anthony Lane. Thank you Jesus for Anthony Lane! His Story I was signed up to provide beignets at a fundraiser, but little did I know I would be competing in the event last minute and meeting the one the Lord was preparing me for. Just a week or so before the event, I finally surrendered in the wrestle and trusted that in the right time he would send the right one. At the fundraiser, while serving beignets, a cute red head walked up to the table and complimented the beignets. She came up to grab seconds and we had a conversation about wedding cakes, and she actually had one of my cakes at a wedding a few years back (Which funny, the bride and wedding planner at the time said we should meet). All that to say, I won in two ways that night. Best dessert AND a text while breaking down the event really giving me a greenlight to ask her out (which in my aloofness at the event and prayers with the Lord in private, I really needed.) Our first date was at Tenfold and it went for hours. I then blacked out and asked her on a second date before she left to go watch crappy Texas A&M in Cstat (Geaux tigers, always). Needless to say, I am thankful I can cook, but thankful to the Lord for one of my greatest gifts!

For all the days along the way
