Like all great love stories, this one begins at Grant Lake... and with our parents. We know. Strange. But stay with us. Years before Aubree and Anthony met, their parents - Jen and Craig, and Tony and Debbie - had already formed a strong friendship, along with the rest of the Hallum crew. Anthony had spent plenty of time with the Fuher clan, and Aubree had bonded with many of the Hallums: aunts, uncles, grandma, cousins, parents… basically everyone *except* Anthony. Something was keeping these two on opposite schedules for years. Both families insisted they had to meet, but every time there was a wedding, birthday party, hunting trip, or casual hangout at Grant Lake, one of them was there… and the other wasn’t. It became a running joke. Or a curse. Hard to say. Then, finally, they didn't meet... again. Aubree had just flown in from New York City to visit the West Coast around the Fourth of July in 2024. Her family drove up the 395 from SoCal to Sparks, stopping at Grant Lake to say hi to Tony and Debbie. Aubree was at the store with Anthony’s parents - while Anthony was in the campground a mere 250 yards away. So close, yet still not meeting. But then, God finally said it was time. Less than a week later on Friday night, June 28th, they both ended up at Grant Lake for a birthday celebration. They spent the weekend fishing, diving under docks, and holding very serious “Board Meetings.” Sparks flew. (Pun absolutely intended.) When the weekend ended, Aubree went back to Sparks with her parents… only to turn around and come right back the next day to spend the Fourth of July week at the lake with Anthony and his family. That week, they officially became a couple. From there, their time together only grew; attending a wedding together, Anthony visiting Aubree in New York, Aubree visiting Anthony in June Lake while he worked on June Mountain, and plenty of time together after Aubree moved back to the west at the end of 2024, settling in Sparks. Aubree spent a lot of the summer at Grant Lake with Anthony - where he proposed on September 20th, 2025. Today, Aubree and Anthony live together with their pup, Saiga, splitting their time between Sparks, NV and the Grant Lake Campground. They cannot wait to celebrate their love, finally bringing all the families together in one place *on purpose*, and say “I do” this October.
