Once we toured Vault 634, we immediately knew it was our venue. We love how it seamlessly blends the romantic ballroom and vintage speakeasy while maintaining history and character. Vault 634 is located in a building originally constructed in 1911 as the headquarters of the Lehigh Valley Trust Company, the largest financial institution in the Lehigh Valley at its founding in 1886. After operating from an earlier location in Downtown Allentown, the bank moved to 634 Hamilton Street to establish a grand presence in the area. Today, the building has been carefully restored into a glorious ballroom and speakeasy!
In the main space, many original banking elements remain woven into the design, making for an immersive event experience. The iconic vaults, manufactured in 1886 by the New York Safe Company, still stand as a nod to the craftsmanship of the era. At the bar, take notice of the restored vault door, carefully cut open by a specialist to reveal its inner workings for the first time in over 120 years. Near the entrance, you’ll find a large glass table that was once used by customers to fill out deposit slips. There are countless other relics from the building's past, so keep your eyes open!
What really sold us on this space was the Fritz Speakeasy, which you'll be able to enjoy during cocktail hour and after dinner service. Check out the original safety deposit boxes which make a memorable photo backdrop and the gold doors to the former coupon booths, which are still on display. Throughout The Fritz, history buffs can see photographs and knick knacks on loan from the Lehigh County Historical Society, which capture moments from Allentown’s past, including the oldest known photo of Downtown Allentown!
