CAR MAINTENANCE. COFFEE SHOP. MONKEY NEST. That was how we met. Steve doesn't even drink coffee, yet it was at the Monkey Nest coffee shop in Austin that he & Ann met while they were both enjoying Friday afternoon work-from-anywhere lifestyle. Lucky for Steve, Ann had to take her car to the auto shop on that particular day, and she popped into Monkey Nest across the street to work and wait out the 2 hrs repair time. She had never been at Monkey Nest before. Ann spotted Steve working on his laptop and admired his pleasant, calm, relaxed vibe. She said Hi first. 2 hrs later when he got up to leave, business cards were exchanged. She was curious as he said "I'm an ios developer and a Maker. I make things." She didn't know what Makers do, so it was cool when he asked her to the Pecan Street Fair that Sunday where Makers showcase their work. That was our first date. He's made so many things for us since. Functional gift like a fuzzy custom ottoman book case. Fun thing like the Woodpecker Pole. That's another story you'll have to ask Steve & Alex about. Alex is the goofy young man you see in the pictures with us. About a week after our first date, Steve learned that Ann is a mom of an 8 yr old kiddo. A few days after that, Steve unexpectedly met Alex for the first time at Houndstooth Coffee when Alex and Ann wandered in to wait for Alex to get a haircut next door. Another chance meeting at a coffee shop! So much for having a plan for meeting Alex the very first time! Not long after that Alex started calling Steve, "Blue Truck Guy," and we had fun hanging out, playing board games & villains foam weapons fights. They've stepped up their games since to 3D printing, video games, building toys, and Geocaching in the UK & other places. We've grown and learned so much together over the years. We are so very blessed...because TOGETHER IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE. 'How do you spell love?' said Piglet. 'You don't spell it, you feel it,' said Pooh." Yep. We definitely feel it.
