Annika and Marc’s story began with faith, community, and what they both believe was God’s perfect timing. For several years, Marc’s pastor and his wife traveled annually to California to visit Annika’s church. During their 2024 visit, they invited Annika to come to New York with her sister and a close friend. What started as a simple trip to visit friends and experience a new city quickly became something much more meaningful. During that visit, Marc’s pastor’s wife shared with Annika that she believed there was someone in New York meant for her. At the time, Annika doubted but appreciated the encouragement but had no idea how soon those words would come to life. On June 26, 2024, Annika and Marc met for the first time at the basketball court at First Bible Church. Their introduction was easy and natural, surrounded by church fellowship. Over the next few days, they spent time talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. They often joke now that they were simply “gathering data,” but it quickly became clear that their connection was something special. As Annika’s trip came to an end, they both felt a growing interest in one another, though neither was sure what would happen next. On her final day in New York, an unexpected thunderstorm cancelled her flight home. What initially felt like a delay became a blessing, allowing Annika to attend Marc’s basketball game that evening. After his team won, Marc finally asked for Annika’s phone number — a simple moment that would change everything. Since that day, they have talked every single day. Despite living on opposite coasts, their relationship grew through daily conversations, prayer, and intentional visits to see each other, their families, and their church communities. Through every mile and every moment, they have seen God’s faithfulness guiding their relationship. What began as a visit to New York became a love story built on friendship, faith, and a deep commitment to one another. Annika and Marc are grateful for every step that led them together and are excited to begin this next chapter side by side.
