Our story begins in Summer 2016 on a beautiful sunny day in Plitviče Lakes National Park, Croatia. We neatly packed sandwiches and stored all our belongings in Annika's pink Jansport to explore limestone caves and nearly 100 waterfalls surrounded by turquoise water so clean and clear it's actually illegal to swim in… ~ Later that day ~ The backpack tumbles into the waterfalls. Danny jumps in to rescue it. Locals are staring. The sandwiches are soaked. We press on with our adventure. A pickpocket steals Danny's wallet. We are starving. Danny has no money. The bus ride home is four hours. We press on with our adventure. Annika shares her stipend with Danny. We laugh over a shared meal. We bond over similar music. We jump into the Adriatic Sea. We watch the sun set. We become friends. The adventures continue. We fall in love. The adventures continue. We're getting married, and the adventure will continue!
