One of our favorite city hikes off-the-beaten path. Totally underrated and stunning -- you'll feel like you're in a magical fairyland, known to only a select few.
One of the best neighborhoods to explore in the city — and it's right next to Chinatown. Make sure to check out City Lights Booksellers, Washington Square Park, Sotto Mare (amazing cioppino), Caffe Sport (one of our favorite restaurants for Sicilian food), Caffe Trieste (cafe where Francis Ford Coppola wrote "The Godfather"). Hike through the alleyways of Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower for amazing views/history.
Wonderful museum with fantastic permanent displays. Worth checking out what the special exhibits are!
Walk through Lover's Lane and El Polin Spring (a natural freshwater spring for the Ohlone, Spanish soldiers and US Army). Crissy Field and the Main Post (there's even a bowling alley if you're so inclined)!
Mandalay (Burmese food), Gaspare's (classic red-sauce Italian joint), Cinderella Bakery (Russian baked goods & soups), Thanh Tam II (amazing hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese place), Mission Chinese (Heaven if you love spicy food), Lucinda's Deli (grab a delicious sandwich and take it to our neighborhood park, Alamo Square).
Where Sam proposed to Annie! Beautiful sunsets. Pro-tip: bring a swimsuit or roll up your pants if you want to experience an extremely refreshing shock to the system! (Emphasis on extreme.)
