It was a day in early summer, and Annie was anxiously awaiting the stranger coming into her life -- knowing today was the beginning of a new chapter in her life. After what felt like forever, the door opened, and there he was. They locked eyes, and Richard could feel his heart beating faster than normal. Because he was late to work -- his first day training new Backdraft ride operators. You see, our story didn't begin with fireworks, just fire. We both worked at Universal Studios Hollywood for a bit before even meeting. Though only a couple of yards from each other for over a year, our paths didn't cross until Annie signed up to cross-train at the Backdraft attraction. Richard was her trainer and the rest, as they say, is history. We spent months standing outside of Backdraft getting to know each other while Dilemma by Nelly played on repeat. Richard would sneakily arrange our lunch breaks at the same time and Annie would take every Backdraft shift she could get. The real fireworks came when Richard invited Annie to a Dodgers game, and though the Dodgers lost, we enjoyed each other's company -- and a few Dodger dogs. We spent all of October staying late after Halloween Horror Nights talking and eventually made it "official" on October 25th, 2009. The rest of our story has included many more milestones, memories, and, yes, Dodgers games. We've had many adventures in many places -- helicopter rides, concerts, dog sledding, conventions, swimming with dolphins, riding rollercoasters, near death experiences, feeding giraffes, flying over volcanoes, various sporting events, and (best of all) meeting penguins -- just to name a few. We adopted our little nugget Yoshi and survived a house renovation. But most of all, we've lived a lot of life, and there's no one we'd rather be living life with than each other.
