Annie and I met over a shared interest in working with refugees. The first time we got coffee together we chatted for hours and since then our relationships has been full of beautiful conversations, international trips, and moments of passionate long-distance as I did an internship on the east coast and Annie did one in the Middle East. We’ve only been together for 11 months but I can confidently say that Annie is my best friend and there’s no one I’d rather be with for the rest of my life. Love is a choice and I will choose to love Annie unconditionally through every season of life — the good and the bad. Dating Annie was the most wonderful adventure. We would often go on spontaneous adventures, dance in the moonlight, and cook delicious vegan food for our friends. Every day I found myself regretting having to say goodbye. I’ve said I love you more in the past 11 months than every other year combined. For our engagement, I knew she needed something special. So, I surprised her with a trip to Paris and asked her to marry me along the Seine river with the Eiffel Tower in the background. Being with Annie has felt like being caught up in the plot of a romance movie. I knew she needed a movie proposal and so I took her to the most romantic place in the world to ask her to be my wife and in that moment I chose not only to love her for the rest of my life but choose to put her first in all things.
