Travel Note
Whether this will be your first trip to New Orleans or if you’re a longtime resident of the city, you should know about a unique form of public transit available here: the streetcar! With the first car rolling down the St. Charles tracks in 1835, New Orleans is proud to be the home of the longest continuously running streetcar line in the world. Streetcars offer a laid back and lazy way to churn about the city while taking in historic mansions, world famous restaurants, haunted graveyards, and bustling pedestrian areas such as Canal and Bourbon. We would like to gently caution our guests that while the streetcar is an excellent way to site see, it will not be the most reliable form of transit for wedding events. The streetcars can fill up quickly and some lines such as the St. Charles route retain their original historic condition by way of lacking any form of air conditioning. If you are all dressed up and need to be somewhere, Uber is a ubiquitous and efficient way to get around the city. However, if you’re looking for an adventure and don’t mind taking your time getting to your destination, you should consider hopping in a pleasantly New Orleans streetcar. Remember: it’s only $1.25 per person to ride anywhere you like! The link above will have resources on the available routes and the mobile applications to manage any digital streetcar passes in case you don't have any pocket change!
