There are a ton of places for short or long hikes/bike rides in Mt Tam, Muir Woods and Armstrong Redwoods, Point Reyes, Jenner Beach, and really anywhere along the coast. If you have the time, Tomales Point Trail is our favorite (only) long hike we've done. You go through the Point Reyes Elk Reserve and end at the tip of Point Reyes, where the Pacific meets the Bay..worth the time! Golden Gate Park in San Francisco is Chris' favorite place to rent bikes and wander. You can spend a whole day getting lost in this place! Tomales Bay has bioluminescent activity this time of year. Check it out up close and personal on a kayak.
Sonoma/Napa are super close and easy to Uber/Lyft around. There are plenty of tours you can book as well. If you are staying at the DoubleTree, the concierge is an excellent resource for booking wine tours in the area. They can assist with travel and finding free tastings* In Point Reyes, you will find Tomales Bay Oyster Co. and Hog Island which are great places to grab your own bag of oysters from their farm, shuck them on site and slurp 'em down.
A few places to check out some local cuisine: - Rocker Oysterfeller's (also a boutique hotel) - In-N-Out!! There is one less than a mile from the DoubeTree - Point Reyes has a lot of great restaurants (CowGirl Creamery - local cheese, Osteria Stellina - Italian, Station House Cafe - burgers/salads..)
San Francisco is always going to have live music from Salsa to Reggae. Bill Graham Civic Auditorium will definitely give you a good show. The Boom Boom Room in SF's jazz district always hits the spot. Marin County (North Bay) is known for their hippies in retirement. You can go to Phil Lesh's Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael AND/OR Bob Weir's music venue Sweetwater in Mill Valley.
The season to see Bioluminescence in full effect is June-September. Put your hands/paddle in the water and watch it sparkle! (just like the "Kiss the Girl" scene from Little Mermaid) It's magical
