Sister-of-Bride
How many ladies are lucky enough to have a best friend and a sister in one? Rebecca has been there since day one to share in all of my life's adventures, big and small. She and I drooled on each other and played legos together as children. I can’t begin to list all the stories, but anyone curious can ask our mother. The tales include canoes, imaginary dogs, snot, matching dresses, goat manure—the stuff of legends and friendships. As adults, our friendship has only gotten stronger: we've gone running through thunderstorms, shared our snacks, and hiked the highest peak in the UK together, (not that we could see it). I am so grateful to have grown up with such a thoughtful, loving, and vibrant big sister! I can’t wait to keep adventuring with you through life and the mountains!
Brother-of-Groom
Us Brown boys are never really the talkative type, but what we may lack in deep conversation, we make up for in experiences. As kids we'd play Legos, build forts, ride bikes around the neighborhood, and generally not share our toys. I have few memories growing up where my little brother wasn't right by my side. Now, we climb mountains, mountain bike, ski, go backpacking, and drive 3 hours to build fences (well...he did that, thanks Fooz). We've followed each other into numerous new outdoor activities in true weekend warrior fashion; always walking into the office Monday with a slight limp. He's my brother, best friend, adventure buddy, and dog sitter. Which reminds me, in addition to Brother-of-Groom duties, he's also the official wedding Dog-Wrangler. Thanks for joining the party Fooz!
Bestie-of-Bride
How to make a best friend, as demonstrated by Krista: 1. Manage a college lacrosse team together 2. Travel to Europe together to weed carrots and jump off of a moving train 3. Be the kind of roommate who cleans the shower drain 4. Spend evenings in side-by-side rocking chairs sippin' tea 5. Share everything from secrets to chocolate to literary tastes 6. Fly to and from Alaska to visit Krista, thank you for saying yes to so many adventures, for learning with me, and for always reading my emails to make sure they’re professional. I still can’t get dressed without your advice sometimes!
Best Dog
The jowls on this little goober are almost as extensive as her ability to love. We adopted an 8 pound, 10-week old sausage. Over the last four years she has become our constant companion. She adventures almost as hard as we do, but naps 20x more efficiently. Her excited puppy wiggles can brighten the toughest days or elevate the best ones. We couldn't imagine getting married without her by our side. Her feline sister, Juniper, would like you to know that she would also participate if her leash manners were as good as Copper's.
Officiant
When we started asking ourselves who would be a good officiant for us, there was really only one obvious answer. Sara has known us from the beginning of our relationship and served as an academic and personal mentor for both of us while we lived in Colorado. Sara, you can add this to your collection of "hats" in our lives-- Colorado mom, boss, friend, dog sitter, field assistant, collaborator, mentor, and now wedding officiant!
Ring Bears
Our closest companions during two summers of work in Denali National Park. They regret that they will not be able to attend.
