Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt is by far the EASIEST international airport to connect to with non-stops flights from LAX on Lufthansa and United. For those flying in from NC, direct flights are available from Charlotte via American Airlines or Raleigh via Lufthansa. Keep in mind, it is a 3hr and 15 min drive to the venue (times vary depending on time of day and traffic conditions). You can rent a vehicle from here and take the scenic route to our wedding :). If you would like to take a train, your destination is going to be Bielefeld and from there you can take a taxi to your hotel. Bielefeld is about 20 min away from the wedding venue.

Flight

Hanover Airport

You could also fly into Hanover Airport, the closest major airport to our ceremony. However, there will be a layover or two, but your drive time to the wedding venue will be shorter. Hanover offers a smooth and manageable arrival experience, making it a great alternative to larger, busier hubs. From the airport, Oerlinghausen is about a 1.5-to-2-hour drive through the beautiful German countryside. Rental cars are readily available, or you can opt for a train route via Hanover's central station for a scenic and stress-free journey. Overall Hanover provides a convenient and charming getaway to our wedding destination.

This hotel is also a 4 minute drive or 13 minute walk to the venue. No A/C. There is a restaurant on site according to the website.

Hotel Bielefelder Hof

This hotel is further away in a larger city called Bielefeld. It is about a 23 minute drive to the venue. This hotel boasts an excellent breakfast, private parking, a restaurant, and AIR CONDITIONING!

This hotel is also located in Bielefeld about 20+ minutes from the venue. Private parking is available for 16 euros per day. There is a bar and restaurant in-house and there is also A/C!

Residenz Hotel Detmold

Another option for those who would like to stay in a "Residence City" (Residenz Stadt). This hotel is located in downtown Detmold and from here, you could explore the city, walk to the castle (where still a prince and his princess live!). The drive from this hotel to the wedding venue is about 25 minutes depending on traffic.
