Like most milennial couples these days, we met via the very romantic (not) online app Tinder. We first “matched” online in November of 2018, but while Cody instigated most of our conversation, Annelise was busy with school and wasn’t great at responding to his messages so our communication dwindled. Four months later, after two failed relationships and some soul searching/praying, we reconnected. We talked to each other via texts, calls, and facetimes for the next two months until our first date in April of 2019. Cody drove to Indiana State University to see Annelise perform in a choral concert. After A few nervous laughs and some late night chic-fil-a we were both smitten. We have been inseperable since!
Cody proposed in Boone, North Carolina at my childhood home during Christmastime. I definitely suspected that Cody was going to pop the question during our vacation, but I had no idea when he was going to do it. Upon arriving in Boone, Cody secretly enlisted the help of my childhood friend Rebekah and my parents in order to pull off the proposal. After securing some stakes and posterboard and sneakily sending me to Rebekahs house to “hang out”, Cody enacted his plan two days before Christmas. Rebekah brought me back home and Cody was in the woodland driveway waiting for me. He had set up multiple posters along the winding drive that had important dates and events that marked our relationship. In his pocket he played the song “you matter to me” from one of my favorite musicals “Waitress”. Holding hands, Cody lead me to the last poster which had the day’s date and a question mark underneath. Cody told me he wanted to continue our journey through life together and proposed. I was overwhelmed and just nodded as a yes! Luckily Rebekah was able to take pictures of the magic moment, and is basically the best wing woman ever :)
