Our Story

Sometimes it's love at first sight.... sometimes it's not.

Growing up in Arkansas, AnneDella always knew she wanted to be a Razorback. As she applied for college, a college counselor in Panama City, Panama asked Andres if he had ever considered studying Engineering in Arkansas. He went home, pulled out a map and decided to apply. Even though they spent their first year living in the same dorm, eating in the same cafeteria, and using the same ping pong tables, they never met. Sophomore year started and some kid burnt popcorn, evacuating the new dorm they both lived in. Standing out in the road, AnneDella struck up a conversation with a guy she recognized from a class and he invited her out to go salsa dancing the next week. That guy? Not Andres. On their date, Alex (who is in our wedding party!) kept looking around for his best friend, who was to be meeting them. Finally, Andres arrived on a date of his own. AnneDella swears they shared a dance and Andres swears they didn't. They went their separate ways, but over the next year a fantastic friendship formed. While he studied abroad in Tanzania, Andres would stay up until 2 AM sharing the details of his day with AnneDella. AnneDella was studying abroad in Bolivia, staying up until 2 AM just in time for Andres to wake up on the other side of the world, wishing him a good morning as he wished her a good night. Months after they returned, AnneDella shared her feelings late at night under the light of the Fulbright Peace Fountain on campus. And Andres, sitting beside her in the grass, let her know he "didn't want to ruin their friendship." But, their deep friendship grew, and Andres continued to sing to her in Italian and they would hammock late at night in Wilson Park. One of these nights, the pair tried for 2 hours in the dark to hang a hammock on the tallest tree in the park. When they finally succeeded, it was impossible to use. Nearly four years later, under the same tree, Andres dropped to his knee and declared he wanted to be AnneDella's best friend forever.
