Question

Who's Invited to the wedding?

Answer

Immediate Family and close friends. Kids and +1’s are welcome.

Question

What should we wear to the wedding?

Answer

Beachy Casual: A simple sundress for women and khaki or linen shorts/pants and shirt for men are appropriate. Sandals and flip-flops are just fine.

Question

Who's Paying for what?

Answer

Mike and I will be paying for the "welcome" luau and the wedding/reception. You will be responsible for your travel arrangements, lodging, ground transportation, meals/drinks, and any other excursions or fun you want to have.

Question

When should we RSVP?

Answer

We’re letting everyone know about the general wedding plans a year in advance in hopes that there’s enough time to save up and arrange to be off work to attend the event. We’ll send out official wedding invites 4 or so months in advance of the wedding and ask you to send your RSVP back at least 2 month before the wedding so we can get an accurate head count.

Question

When should we book travel arrangements?

Answer

We recommend booking flights to Kona International Airport (KOA) no less than 3-4 months out. If you need/want help looking for flights, please let me/Mike know and we’ll assist. No need to get a travel agent. Also, flights to Hawaii are lonnnnng and it’s nearly impossible to get non-stop flights from most East Coast locations (DC, Detroit). If you’re worried about the long days travel, please plan to stop somewhere on the West Coast for a day or two (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix) before taking off on the second leg of your journey. For reference: Hawaii is 6 hours behind the East Coast in terms of time.

Question

Where will we stay?

Answer

Mike, Olivia and I will be staying at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort and have booked a block of rooms there from September 5-11th for anyone else who would like to stay. The room rates are: Partial Ocean View- $417/night +taxes and fees and Ocean View $457/night +taxes and fees. The group discount website is https://book.passkey.com/e/50241972. Rooms have to be booked using the website by May 30, 2022 in order to receive the discounted rates. Please use this to access the discounted room rates!!! We’ve post other options for lodging on our website but feel free to look around as well. Airbnb and VRBO might also have good options.

Question

What should we do for ground transportation on the Big Island of Hawaii?

Answer

If you plan to tour the island at all we recommend renting a car when you book your flights. Otherwise, hop a cab or Uber at the airport to get to your hotel. The Westin Hapuna Bay Resort has ground transportation available for a fee. You can call them to book it.

Question

What's the average weather in September on the Big Island of Hawaii?

Answer

High temps are mid- 80’s and lows are mid-70’s. Average rain is 2 days a month in September!

Question

Gifts?

Answer

No gifts!!! You making the journey to join us is gift enough!!!

Question

Wedding Day Hair & Make Up

Answer

Ladies, if you're interested in having your hair/makeup done the day of the wedding let Anne know and we'll get you scheduled. Will send pricing info if you're interested.

Question

What are Mike, Olivia & Anne’s Plans before and after the wedding?

Answer

We’ll plan to arrive Saturday, September 3, 2022 and will depart Saturday, September 10th. Check the Schedule page of this website for things we plan to do before the wedding. We’ll probably hop over to another island (Maui) for another week for the honeymoon. However, while on the Big Island we will plan to get in plenty of beach/pool time and go see some of the sites the Island has to offer.

Question

What other things can we do on the Big Island of Hawaii?

Answer

Check the "Things to do" page of this site and google "Best things to do on the Big Island of Hawaii"...you'll find no shortage of options.

Question

Our General Disclaimer!

Answer

We know attendance at this wedding is going to be a big time and money investment for everyone invited. While we hope the allure of the Hawaiian Islands, spending time with Olivia Rose, and our wedding will be a big enough draw, we understand that not everyone will be able to attend. If you fall into this category, don’t stress it!!! We love you regardless of whether you can attend our fantasy island wedding and there will be NO hard feelings. Please do, what’s best for you and your family first.
