After many years of running in the same streets, the same circles, and the same dance clubs - and even after Anne was a trusted and reliable roommate for many years to MC's best friend (and MOH) Courtney - Mary Claire and Courtney decided to skip a ZBB concert to go hang out with Anne and some friends at East Beach. This ignited a determined pursuit from Mary Claire to get Anne on the dance floor later that night and led to an invitation for a bottle of wine and a Redskins game the following Monday night...the rest is history.

Once Mary Claire decided that Anne was the person for her, she started to form a plan to propose in Nantucket. When Anne received an invitation to her cousin Brian's wedding in Kent, CT, Mary Claire began to formalize a plan to sneak in a day trip to Nantucket on the front end of the fall New England trip. Mary Claire was able to cover her story by saying that Nantucket was on her bucket list due to reading so many novels by Elin Hilderbrand about this picturesque beach town, all the while knowing Anne had countless childhood memories of summers spent on the Island. One rainy and extremely early morning we took the ferry from Hyannis to ACK and began the day at brunch. Anne quickly noticed that MC was not eating much of her breakfast, but was able to put down a few mimosas. We picked up our beach cruisers at Young's bike shop and headed straight to Brandt Point Lighthouse; the symbolic 'welcome to the island" landmark where Anne threw pennies in and made wishes as a kid. This is where Mary Claire asked Anne to spend forever with her.
