It was November 20, 2017, and ODESZA was playing at Franklin Music Hall (back when it was still The Electric Factory). Annie had just moved in with new roommates who invited her to the show. She’d never even heard of ODESZA, but after some convincing, she decided to tag along. Once they arrived, Annie started trying to find a few of her other friends in the crowd. Cell service was spotty, but somehow, she managed to track them down in the sea of people. One of her friends mentioned that his high school buddies were joining them for the concert. When Annie first saw Kyle, he was chatting with her friend, so she assumed he was part of that group. Turns out, they weren’t high school buddies at all—just two strangers bonding over music and a shared appreciation for bandanas which they were both wearing. Annie walked right up to Kyle and said, “Want to be my buddy for the night!?” They spent the rest of the evening together—laughing, dancing, and hitting it off instantly. By the end of the show, Kyle put his number in Annie’s phone but forgot to text himself so he’d have hers. They went their separate ways, but Annie couldn’t stop talking about him on the ride home and how different it felt being with him. she told her friends, who tried (unsuccessfully) to convince her not to text him too soon. Kyle went home beating himself up because he had forgotten to get Annie's phone number. Determined to not let it be the last time he saw her, He took to Facebook with only two clues: her name—“Annie”—and the fact that she went to Drexel. By a miracle he found her profile and friended her. After receiving the friend request that night, Annie ignored all advice and texted Kyle. And as they say… the rest is history. :)
