Our Story We met through our dear friends, Steve and Ute—Joe had known Steve for many years, and I had grown close to both of them in the two to three years before our paths finally crossed. We met at a show, had our first date a week later, and from that moment on, we were pretty much inseparable. About six months before COVID, we moved in together… and then found ourselves navigating a once-in-a-lifetime challenge: working from home, caring for family, and weathering all the intensity that came with those years. It wasn’t easy, but it shaped us. We learned each other’s strengths, patience, humor, and resilience in a way few couples ever do. As life settled, we began rebuilding—literally and emotionally. Over the past two years, we poured our hearts into creating a new life and building our home. Then, just one month before closing, Joe suffered a stroke. By grace and grit, he made a full recovery (and, as he says, emerged “even nicer”). That chapter reminded us how precious every day truly is. We became domestic partners a couple of years ago, waiting for the right moment to celebrate our commitment. Now, as we settle into our new home and new season of life, we feel ready to fully step into this next chapter. Every day is a gift, and we can’t wait to honor that by choosing each other—again and forever—surrounded by the people we love most.
