It was a Monday morning in the summer of 2014, Anne was at the security desk signing in for her first day of work at General Electric (GE). Ebo was walking in and noticed the black girl with the short haircut wearing a brown and black dress standing at the security desk. Later that week as part of the onboarding sessions, Ebo and other upper classman led a training for Anne’s class. During this session Anne received a message on Webex from Ebo (she didn’t realize he was one of the presenters) introducing himself, welcoming her to the program and offering to help. From that point on the two were inseparable, studying together after work, on the weekends for the rigorous FMP exams required for their roles at GE (shout out to all the FMPs who understand the grind!), texting, skyping and conversing for long hours on the phone. Their first official date was a cozy evening that featured a homemade meal of pork chops, pasta, corn, and a glass of wine. Over the years, their bond deepened through shared experiences—many of which revolved around their mutual love for trying new restaurants and catching the latest blockbuster at the theater. During their time in Stamford Connecticut one restaurant Capital Grille became their favorite as it was the first expensive date they went on and would later be where they celebrated their graduation from the GE program where they met. Through it all, Anne and Ebo have been each other's greatest supporters, providing comfort, inspiration, and love through the highs and lows. Whether it was tackling the challenges of the FMP program, traveling the world together, competing in bodybuilding competitions, learning each other’s cultures, or navigating the big life moments—like moving to different states, changing jobs, getting a dog, buying a home, and caring for their families—their relationship has always shown that they are truly Stronger Together. In November 2022, they went on a special date to Capital Grille in Washington, DC, as they often did for celebrations. However, this night was set to be unlike any other. The surprise proposal was nearly spoiled when Ebo’s fraternity brother called while they were both in the car, asking, “Is it go time?” Thankfully, Ebo’s quick thinking saved the moment, and Anne remained only slightly suspicious. After a seemingly normal dinner, Anne’s brothers and best friend/sister-in-law “surprised” the couple at their table. While Anne embraced them, Ebo dropped to one knee and asked the most important question: “Will you marry me?” With a big smile on her face, Anne, of course, said “Yes!” We are beyond excited to celebrate our union with our cherished family and friends.
