How We Met

12.22.18

Her version: The night started with dinner with a friend. After dinner we went to Tin Roof "just to see who was there." I ended up running into my friend from college, and stayed long after my other friend had left. At closing time this guy walked up to us and said "so what are y'all doing after this?." I looked at him like he had 3 heads and promptly informed him I was going home as I had to work the next day. After some banter we discovered a similar love of baseball. I told Chris one of my bucket list items was to visit every major league stadium in the country. His next words were literally "Will you marry me?" I said no but I gave him my number instead. I was very resistant to a first date given my recent dating experience but after asking a mutual friend 21 questions, I agreed. After our first date we stayed together and never thought twice. And a year and a half later, I FINALLY accepted his proposal. His version: On the way...

The Proposal

07.01.20

Her version: I knew the proposal was coming. We had looked at rings and Chris isn't the best at keeping secrets. He will tell you I "forced it out of him" but in reality he was so excited that he spilled the beans he had bought a ring all by himself. The one request I made was that it be a surprise BUT that he do it at a time when I looked good (for pictures, duh). It was the week leading up to July 4th weekend and I was expecting it at any time, but specifically on Thursday or Friday of that week. Boy was I wrong. I worked an overnight shift on Tuesday that was GRUELING. I got no sleep and my face showed it. After work I drove the 40 minutes home fully ready to get in bed--instead I walked in to roses and candles and music..AND CHICK-FIL-A. If you know me, you know that was a very thoughtful addition. While I may have botched Chris' plan by not following directions (is anyone shocked?) and had to make him do it again, I was so happy to finally answer his question from a year and a half prior with a YES!! His version: On the way....
