After years of living in Boston and taking east coast gigs, AMD packed her bags and took her first, true Los Angeles gig - Undercover Boss. At the start, Episode 1 had a replacement. The series DP (Director of Photography) couldn't make it, and at the airport AMD shook the hand of his substitute. A guy they called "Ike". John will tell the story like this: He was standing on the airport curb talking to the show's Director while also observing AMD zip around, organizing the pick up of people/vans/cases with Southern charm. Visibly noticing John's disengagement from the conversation, the Director (Tim Baker) introduced John to AMD... Thanks for the setup Tim :) The rest of the episode they filmed, said good mornings and went about the days... but AMD would always find John gazing at her. Sneaking a peek at what she was up to, but turning his head before she could fully catch him. It was close to the end of the episode when the crew had a big group dinner to close out the trip. John apparently tried to sit next to AMD at the table- she was too distracted. After dinner, groups were breaking off; some bowling, some sticking close by and having a drink at Gary, IN's finest establishment: le Hooters. It was there John finally had the opportunity to catch AMD one-on-one for a chat. And truley the rest is history... 3 hours later the bartender nudged them, closing time was approaching, all their friends had left and it was time to go. They said their goodbyes at the airport the next day but continued to text. AMD was slated to go to NYC the following week for another Boss shoot where John would be filming... they were excited to reconnect and keep chatting. At the last minute, AMD was pulled and another Production person was sent. For someone who's shy, John's next move was BOLD! He invited AMD to fly to NYC anyway to join him for a couple of days. She talked the invitation through with Lindsey (BFF)... "Should I go? Is he a murderer? No. I think I really like him. What should I do?"... "It's just a couple days, you're clearly into him, worst case scenario you get to enjoy the city and zip back home." Easy. Not a big deal. Fine, decision made - AMD flew and met John the next day. If you could ever bookmark a page in life's story where life changed in a moment, this trip was it. They ate, drank, saw the sights, went to a concert, ran around the city, and enjoyed learning more about each other. AMD remembers sitting at a tapas restaurant for dinner, looking and John while he spoke, thinking she'd finally found her ultimate love. From that trip on, they were both all in. An instant connection that still thrives. She was his, and he was hers... In no world, should John and Anne-Marie have ever met and hit it off. He was a divorced dad with 3 kids, she was a single, early-careered tumbleweed. But it just worked. They couldn't articulate it or make it make sense to those around them, but they knew what they had and they fought for it. John and Anne-Marie believe in God and know His hand orchestrated this life they share together. From the first meet to the second try, it's had His name on it since day one.
