COVID has been stressful for everyone, but when Ann moved back to her parents home in Wellesley, MA to ride out the pandemic, loneliness took it's toll. Mary and John's neighbors, who were also quite bored, took notice and decided to insert themselves in Ann's love life (or lack there of). One January day, Ann received an email forward from Emily Nardone and Cristina O'Brien, entitled, "Cristina and Emily ask a favor ..." "Cristina O’Brien and I have a favor. Our neighbor’s daughter, Ann Power, moved out of NYC when COVID hit and has been parking it at her parents house in Poets until it makes sense for her to go back to NY. She is 32. She is adorable, fit, witty, outgoing, generous, loves to have a good time, has a great career (HR for start-ups), comes from a great family, etc. etc. And she is BORED. If we’re bored, she’s super bored. If you know anyone in her demographic who you would want to introduce her to, send them our way." This email prompted just one response, from Tarah Breed, Taylor's sister in law. Tarah mentioned that her single brother in law lived in Portsmouth, NH, a recent transplant from NYC, and was looking to meet new people! What followed was a four hour facetime, with (surprise, surprise) some Taylor-style serenading, and an impromptu weekend to Nantucket. With Ann's dog in tow, they traveled to Nantucket on a stormy February weekend and the rest is history. When April hit, Ann decided to take Taylor to Sea Island to meet Pat, her infamous Grandmother. Taylor fell in love not just with the beautiful Golden Isle, but with Pat as well! He was smitten. Eight months later, Taylor took Ann to his favorite park benches in Central Park. The park benches are dedicated to his Nana, Lucy Burwell Allen Fowlkes. It was there that Taylor got down on one knee and gave Ann his mother's, Lucy Fowlkes Breed, engagement ring. After uttering the word "no" a few times (clearly in shock!), Ann enthusiastically said YES!
