Both born and raised in Williston, Matt and Ann met in high school. They each were a part of band, although Matt was a year ahead of Ann. Matt helped with tech and set design for theater productions, Ann acted in the productions. Matt was friends with Chase, and Ann was friends with his girlfriend Sam (foreshadowing). The exent of their thoughts toward the other usually went, "Oh, they're kinda cute and seem nice!" Both eventually moved on from high school, never to think of the other again. Until... Spring 2022! Matt moved back to Williston and Sam and Chase, now married, mentioned that there was someone who would be a good fit for him. After weeks of prodding each of them, Sam finally put Matt and Ann in a group chat together to force them to talk. Apparently, it worked! That summer, the couple started dating, and steadily fell for each other. They discovered shared interests in reading, shared values, and a love of learning and experiencing new things. Ann went on her first motor cycle ride, and Matt watched his first Korean drama (the things we do for love). Next came a year of long-distance while Ann returned to Fargo to finish her degree and Matt started working on his family farm. Finally, in August of 2023, Ann moved back to Williston, starting a social work job. Over the course of the following year, Matt and Ann's suspicions were confirmed: they had found the person they wanted to marry. In July of 2024, Matt proposed to Ann (surprise: she said yes). The rest, as they say, is history. Matt and Ann are thrilled to have their friends and family joining them to celebrate their wedding on October 17th of 2025!
