We met in 2020 during COVID on a dating app—when meeting someone new mostly meant chatting through screens. After a few video calls and socially distant walks, we quickly realized we had something worth holding onto. The rest, as they say, is history.

Yes, it was a surprise. We were on a special trip in Venice to celebrate Julian’s cousin, who had just been ordained as a priest that very morning. Later that day, we went up to the roof of the seminary to take in the beautiful views. While on the roof I turned around—and there he was, down on one knee. I said yes before he could even finish his speech! We were able to celebrate in the magical city of Venice. Our new favorite place!
