How We Met

An IDEAL Couple

Who knew that an interprofessional class would bring us together? We both knew that something special would happen when we had our first conversation in the rehab counseling workroom where Tim was fooled into thinking that being a rehab counselor meant keeping rats in a closet (Anna was talking about a Wide Range Achievement Test, aka WRAT). We talked about Harry Potter world, camping, Tim's fake glasses, and realized that being together was as easy as breathing. Fast forward to a few months later to when Tim began to profess that he saw this relationship as serious and called Anna "Anne" throughout this heartfelt speech and stated that we had "snguyenergy." Despite this hiccup, we continued to meet up after IDEAL and visited the botanical gardens at least 3 times in the span of a month in an attempt to see cherry blossoms. On March 29th, we visited the gardens for the 4th time to try and see the cherry blossoms and upon looking in, saw trees torn down and leaves scattered everywhere because of a massive storm the night before. Not to be deterred, we decided to have a picnic out by White Rock Lake and that was when we made it official and also teamed up to do the best alley-oop trying to throw away all of our picnic trash.

The Proposal

A Graduation to Remember

After being in a long-distance relationship for 2.5 years or so, Tim and I knew that we were ready for the next step. Tim romantically asked for my parent's permission in a Braum's (yes, we plan on leaving a glowing Yelp review) and the wheels began to turn for the proposal. My siblings and I had decided to throw a "graduation ceremony" as a joke, which then turned into a full-scale event thanks to my mom (who almost gave it all away several times the day of). We had the whole shebang, opening remarks, closing remarks, all family members in attendance, and then Tim stepped forward to give me a gift. A box of compliments from our families and then it happened! The most magical part of the proposal was seeing the beautiful ring that Yvonne (Tim's mother) had left for him and it fitting PERFECTLY without resizing.
