How We Met

God wrote our love story long before we knew it

Our Story Est. May 9, 2020 If you ask me (Annamarie), our love story started in kindergarten. If you ask Jonathan, he didn’t even know who I was then. We were in the same class, and while he spent recess playing on the playground, I was sitting off to the side quietly deciding that he was going to be my husband one day. We found ourselves in the same classroom again in second grade, and then again in sixth grade, where we finally officially dated. That is, until Jonathan broke my heart by breaking up with me. It hurt so badly that I changed classes (dramatic, yes, but I had been waiting on this love story since kindergarten). We didn’t speak for two years, but God clearly wasn’t finished writing our story. High school brought us back together through mutual friends, Jonathan finally noticed me, and soon enough the texts started. We spent freshman homecoming together, which led to an on-again, off-again situationship that lasted about six months. We continued our back-and-forth until March of 2020, when I decided it was time to stop running and truly give us a real chance (maybe I was still holding onto that sixth-grade grudge just a little). My text to Jonathan telling him I wanted to be more than friends ended with him saying okay… years later I find out he read that text as I didn’t want to be anything BUT friends. But after two months of nonstop texting, endless FaceTime calls, and lots of patience, Jonathan went bowling with my family on May 9, 2020, and finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Looking back now, it’s clear that every missed moment, every pause, and every second chance was part of God’s timing. We had growing to do, lessons to learn, and faith to build, both individually and together. And now, after all the classrooms, heartbreaks, reunions, and prayers, we get to step into forever, hand in hand, knowing this love story was written long before we ever understood it. “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11 Proof that God’s timing is perfect… even when it takes a few classrooms and a little patience.
