Hotel
PlumpJack is our wedding venue, and we will be staying there Saturday and Sunday nights of the wedding. Other events (rehearsal dinner, beach hang) will be either in Olympic Valley or Tahoe City (15 minutes away). There is a two-night minimum on weekends, but you might be able to stay just for Sunday night (after the ceremony), if you're in the area longer and don't want to deal with nighttime transportation. There are limited additional rooms available at PlumpJack, with a modest discount for our guests (prices $175-$255 + taxes and fees per night). PLEASE RESERVE A ROOM ASAP IF YOU'D LIKE TO STAY HERE! PlumpJack is great place to stay, and logistically easy, but a bit expensive. To save on accommodations you might need to stay outside of Olympic Valley, creating more of a transportation burden. BOOKING INSTRUCTIONS FROM PLUMPJACK: PlumpJack Inn offers an intimate, boutique hotel experience at the base of the Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort and village. We offer the comfort of an inn with the amenities of a full- service hotel. We have a renowned restaurant and bar in addition to an outdoor pool and hot tubs, bocce court and croquet lawn, complimentary parking, wireless internet and cruiser bikes (amenities subject to change). We are located across the street from village shops, restaurants, activities and ski lifts at Palisades Tahoe. Guests with this wedding receive reduced hotel room rates as outlined below. A deposit of one night is required upon booking and non-refundable if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival. PlumpJack has a two night minimum stay on weekends. Room rates are subject to 10% occupancy tax, 2% district tax and a resort fee of $20 per night.
Travel Note
We are investigating other hotel room blocks in Olympic Valley, though they may not be too much cheaper. There are a number of hotels in Tahoe City, some cheaper. AirBnB: there are very limited options walking distance from the venue, but a lot of options between Olympic Valley and Tahoe City more generally. Camping: there are a number of campgrounds in the area Campers: there are places for campers and RVs
Travel Note
Tahoe area: there are buses between Olympic Valley and Tahoe City, though there may not be a late bus available on the night of the wedding (Sunday). There are some Ubers/Lyfts available. Driving makes everything very accessible.
Travel Note
Not necessarily - if staying in Tahoe City or Olympic Valley/PlumpJack, you could conceivably fly into Reno, take a shuttle, and walk or bus everywhere. If you want to explore the area more though, you will need a car. There is some hiking available within walking distance, and a beach in Tahoe City on the lake.
Flight
You want to fly into the Reno Airport, which is about an hour from Tahoe. Most flights from Seattle are from Alaskan Airlines, in the $200-400 range; that route is about 1 hour 40 minutes. From the airport: there are shuttles from the Reno Airport to both Olympic Valley and Tahoe City. North Lake Tahoe Express is a great option: https://www.northlaketahoeexpress.com/routes/ Additional airports: Sacramento Airport is about 2 hours away San Francisco Airport is about 3.5 hours away
