Moondog Cafe Key West
One of our favorite local spots is Moon Dog Cafe. We've always loved their food, staff is friendly, and they have amazing pastries and desserts (try the Key Lime Pie)! It's a great spot for breakfast, brunch, or casual lunch while exploring Key West.
Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park Beach
If you are looking for a beach day we highly recommend Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park Beach. It has beautiful clear water and is widely considered the best shore-accessible snorkeling spot on the island. The park also has Cayo Hues Cafe right by the beach where you can grab lunch, drinks and snacks. They also offer chairs, umbrellas and snorkeling rentals. Bring your beach towel and don't miss the sunset views!
Smathers Beach
For a more classic Key West beach day, we recommend Smathers Beach. It's the largest public beach on the island and a great spot to relax, swim, or spend the afternoon in the sun. Smathers has soft sand, calm water, and a lively atmosphere, with nearby venders offering chair rentals, kayaks, paddle boards, jet skis, and parasailing. It's a fun option if you're looking for more of a traditional beach vibe in Key West.

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory
Take a walk among hundreds of free flying butterflies and exotic birds inside the soaring glass-domed tropical butterfly habitat.
Pigeon Key
Not located in Key West, but very cool to see. It's a two mile walk along the 7 mile bridge over the ocean. There's also a shuttle you can take if you don't want to walk.
Bahia Honda State Park
Another spot outside of Key West, Bahia Honda has beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and even camping.
Crane Point Hammock Park
Located in Marathon, this nature preserve has tropical trails, fish pedicures, tortoises, and lots of birds.
