About the Venue

The Wedding Website of Annalisa Dibernardo and Austin Landen
William J. Howey purchased land in undeveloped Florida back in the early twentieth century, in the hills of Lake County Florida. By 1916 he owned 60,000 acres and founded the town Howey, on May 8, 1925. It was later renamed Howey-in-the-Hills after the beautiful rolling hills, which he called the “Florida Alps”. That same year he began construction on a 20 room, 8,800 sq ft home. The mansion has many refined features such as a servant call bell system, a butlers pantry, and a dumb waiter. A small library, tucked under the main staircase, faces the back of the home and a lily pond in the courtyard. A secret passageway, fashionable for the times, is hidden behind a sliding bookshelf. The passage leads to a basement room with a bank vault tumbler lock style door. Perhaps it was built for a liquor cache during prohibition times? After building his beloved mansion, Mr. Howey put in a country club and golf course. Today the club is the award winning Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.

The most Magical place on earth.... if you're into that sort of thing. March is actually a pretty great time to go to Disney if you don't have the advantage of living down the street. March is typically pretty cool and the least rainy month in Florida. The best part, you get more day light starting March 13, 2022. Disney just launched Disney Genie and Disney Genie Plus (downloadable phone apps) to help maximize your experience!

Universal Studios Florida

No Halloween Horror Nights at this time, unfortunately, but I've heard Universal and Island of Adventure is awesome. Don't ask me, I've never been. I've only ever been backstage for auditions but Austin says it's great!

Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL

If theme parks aren't your thing, the closest beach to Howey Mansion is Daytona Beach, FL. An hour and 20 minutes from our venue, Daytona beach is unique with drivable sections and a high energy pier; it is certainly a site to see if you're visiting from out of state. Just be careful, Florida beaches, and specifically this area, are prone to shark attacks and rip currents. So I suggest getting an ice cream cone and laying out on the sand, just to be safe! Or you can check out the new Buc-ee's gas station on your way to the outlets for some awesome shopping!

Raymond James Stadium

Raymond James Stadium

4201 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33607
, (813) 350-6500

If any of our dignified guests happen to be closeted Tampa Bay or Tom Brady fans, the Raymond James Stadium is only 1hr 20 minutes away from our venue. I imagine it would be pretty cool to see the stadium of the first team to ever host, play in and win a Super Bowl. If you go, just don't tell Austin or I. Just kidding! You'll actually need to bring us home some Super Bowl memorabilia.

Mission Inn Resort & Club

Mission Inn Resort & Club

10400 Florida 48, Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737
, (352) 324-3101

Right down the road (less than a five minute drive) from our venue is the Mission Inn. A beautiful resort that has an amazing golf course if you need to get a game in over the weekend!

For all the days along the way
