The teacher comments on Matthew's slight British accent, which Annaleise had not noticed. August 28, 2023 - C.S. Lewis Book Club, University of Tulsa Matthew attends as normal and Annaleise walks in late from orchestra rehearsal. They recognize one another as fellow concert attendees. October 8, 2024 - following History and Philosophy of Science class Matthew catches Annaleise and asks about her name. They walk to the dining hall and get lunch together. January 23, 2024 - University of Tulsa Matthew asks for Annaleise's number in order to organize piano lessons. He pretends to be a scammer, and she blocks him. February 15, 2024 - following a faculty Concerts with Commentary performance Matthew expresses interest in a romantic relationship. Annaleise agrees to go on a date. They walk around campus late, talking. February 18, 2024 - Philbrook Art Museum Matthew and Annaleise talk about art and nature. Matthew buys Annaleise a tea. Annaleise's sister calls midway through the day and Annaleise pretends she isn't on a date. March 10, 2024 - in the courtyard of the University United Methodist Church Matthew and Annaleise rather nervously text their parents with the news that they are in a relationship. November 24, 2024 - at the home of the Woelks in Springfield, Missouri Annaleise and Matthew spend their first holiday together, and Matthew meets Annaleise's extended family. June 4, 2025 - at the home of the Brights in Bristol, England Annaleise meets Matthew's extended family. July 30, 2025 - in the courtyard of the University United Methodist Church Matthew asks Annaleise to marry him. She says yes. January 17, 2026 - University Heights Baptist Church Matthew and Annaleise will exchange vows and be pronounced husband and wife.
