Casey and I grew up 30 seconds away from each other our entire lives, were in the same place at the same time for so many different things, and we never had a clue. We both have had our fair share of crappy breakups, and I had been getting over one for a bit when he one day messaged me on Facebook. He saw a picture of me and knew that he couldn't let the opportunity slip away. A couple days after talking to each other basically 24 hours a day, Casey asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with him. I told him I had plans to go get a puppy (that puppy would be our sweet Hazel girl) so it would have to be some other time. He said he understood and he couldn't wait until I was free. Later that night he insited that he would be taking me to lunch before I went to go pick up Hazel. I agreed to a lunch date of pizza that I only planned on staying a half hour for. I ended up being late to pick up Hazel because I just didn't want to leave. He made me feel so safe and loved from the moment he walked up to me as I got out of my car. That day he told me he was going to marry me, and I am so thankful I said yes to a last minute lunch date.
For my 21st birthday, Casey bought me tickets to go see one of my absolute favorite arists, Luke Combs. This alone was the best birthday present I thought I could ever get. Little did I know, Casey had been planning to propose on the same night. His original plan was to propose after the song “Beautiful Crazy”, but he wasn’t going to be able to get the ring in without me knowing. So, he messaged one of my best friends, Brittany, who was going to be at the same concert and asked if she and her boyfriend wanted to meet up after the concert so they could help him with the proposal. We met them at Steak N’ Shake and Casey walked behind me (which I didn’t think anything of because he walks slower than I do), and Brittany told me there was something wrong with my car so I would turn around. When I turned around, Casey was down on one knee, asking me if I wanted to spend the rest of our lives together! By far the best birthday present and the best night of my life!
