One of our favorite restaurants in the city! Classic and modern Southern, Cajun and Creole dishes.
A must-see spot for drinks in Saint Augustine. Every martini you can imagine, beautiful views, and lots of fun.
Another favorite restaurant with great food and fantastic drinks. Next door to the Distillery.
"St. Augustine Distillery is a locally owned and operated, artisanal spirits distillery located within a beautifully restored ice plant from the turn-of-the-century. Their handcrafted, award-winning rum, bourbon whiskey, gin, and vodka are made from local and regional agricultural products. They offer free tours and tastings seven days a week."
The absolute best little lunch cafe on the island with the freshest, most delicious ingredients. Delicious European/Peruvian style sandwiches with empanadas, coffee, and pastries as well. Only open M-F 10:30-2:30, so I highly recommend scheduling it in!
Anna's favorite Italian spot. Worth the drive!
Grilled cheese, arcade, and craft beer on tap. Need I say more?
The best pizza in town. It is cash only and there will be a line, but it is worth it!
Down-home southern comfort foods plus lighter, creative dishes with many vegetarian options.
One of our favorite spots to eat and walking distance from our house. It's a casual, island-style bar and grill with a Caribbean-inspired menu.
Karaoke. Every. Single. Night. What more can you ask for?
Fun downtown bar with a younger crowd and live music.
Our favorite bar, mostly because it's two blocks from our house. It is a bit of dive but an absolute blast with great outdoor seating, a pool table, and pretty decent BBQ.
A must see spot in historical downtown. Tons of fun shops, confectioners, restaurants, bars, and historical museums. Be aware that a lot of times it can almost feel like a colonial Spanish theme park--it's a big part of the fun of it, but be prepared for crowds!
A must-see landmark and one of the most haunted places in the country. The lighthouse offers excellent tours not just of the lighthouse but of regional maritime history. The also have ghost tours.
The oldest masonry fort in the continental United States, the Castillo de San Marcos is a large Spanish stone fortress built to protect and defend Spain's claims in the New World. It's a National Monument and, at over 315 years old, it's the oldest structure in St. Augustine. "There are plenty of things to do at the Castillo, from the numerous rooms that once housed soldiers and prisoners, to the large interior courtyard and gun deck which offers a great view of the city. Regular daily programs and ranger-led tours are free with admission, as are cannon firings and weaponry demonstrations, which are offered (weather and staffing permitting) on Saturdays, and Sundays. " This is also one of the most haunted places in the city, and at night, you may see ghostly soldiers standing sentinel along the watchtowers.
"The Alligator Farm Zoological Park features a variety of animal species including hundreds of native alligators. Exhibits include lemurs, Komodo dragons, toucans, and a sloth exhibit. The park is the only place in the world to see all 24 species of crocodilians in one place. "The Alligator Farm offers several wildlife shows and demonstrations every day for lots of family fun. The property offers two intriguing zip lines and aerial adventure courses. And, for those who dare, Crocodile Crossing's Python Challenge offers a 40-foot controlled free fall adventure."
The Huguenot Cemetery in St. Augustine, Florida located across from the historic City Gate was a Protestant burial ground between the years 1821 and 1884. It's historical and super haunted.
Everything you know and love about Ripley's, except this is the first one and it is...you guessed it, haunted! This Ripley's houses the usual exhibits of oddities as the other Believe it or Not Museum, except this one has ghosts. It is housed in what was the Warden Castle, a winter home turned bougie hotel. Now it's a pretty creepy place you can tour after dark.
Fort Mose Historic State Park, is a former Spanish fort in St. Augustine, Florida. In 1738, the governor of Spanish Florida, Manuel de Montiano, had the fort established as a free black settlement, the first to be legally sanctioned in what would become the territory of the United States. While the fort itself no longer stands, the site it stood on still feels full of the groundbreaking history that was made there.
"Once a holding site for St. Augustine’s hardest criminals, the Old Jail Museum now offers visitors an educational look at life in the Nation’s Oldest City. Tour a maximum security area and regular cells alike that held prisoners until 1953, learning about fascinating historical accounts of criminal lives in St. Augustine as you go."
Our favorite mini golf course, lots of fun! Much preferred over the Pirate-themed one called Anastasia Mini Golf. Holes are more fun and better kept up. (If you want beer, though, you'll want Anastasia because Fiesta Falls doesn't serve alcohol).
This our favorite place to take Teedie and spend some time in nature. There are no real "hiking" spots in Florida, but this park has beautiful nature walks, bike trails, and bird watching.
Another place we love to take Teedie for a walk. There is a nice little nature path, places to picnic, bike trails, bird watching, and a beautiful dock along the beach. Note: pets are not allowed on the beach here.
This is our favorite beach. We our walking distance from Saint Augustine Beach, but the drive to Butler is worth it for us. Quieter and finer sand.
THE ONLY DOG PARK IN TOWN WE RECOMMEND. This one is very good. DO NOT GO TO THE OTHER ONES.
Another fun little beach spot with a dockside bar and grill.
We had a great time on this boat tour. It shows you a whole other side to this beautiful city. "Enjoy the cool breeze from the Atlantic Ocean as we cruise around the beautiful waters of the Matanzas Bay and Intracoastal Waterway for your own waterfront perspective of many of the city’s most popular highlights, including the St. Augustine Lighthouse, Castillo de San Marco National Monument, the Bridge of Lions, Flagler College, and more. We also focus on dolphin, wildlife and nature viewing – Natural Florida is all around St. Augustine and just a boat ride away. This trip lasts approx. 1 hour. Departs from the Conch House Marina on Anastasia Island, just a short distance from historic downtown across the Bridge of Lions."
We are huge fans of walking and bike tours. The best way to get to know a city is to hit it on foot!
