Although our families live less than 30 minutes from each other, we didn't meet until we had both left home. We firmly believe that the Lord brought us together at just the right time. We met after Davis moved to Nashville with a mutual friend, Cameron Floyd, around the same time Josh moved to town. We connected on a visit to Nashville and began a distant friendship. After spending a week together on a beach trip to North Myrtle, we knew there was something special between us. We tried to avoid it as long as we could since we knew long distance relationships were difficult - but we couldn't deny we were meant to be together! We started dating in July 2020, and like to say that our relationship was at least one good thing to come out of COVID quarantine!
Josh knows I love a surprise! He worked with my mom and friends to throw a proposal that I could only have dreamed of. After spending a week at our family's beach house (the Larra-beehive!) with my mom and friend, Tenley, we only had one more day before returning home. I was missing Josh, as we'd spent so much special time together at North Myrtle Beach. That said, Mom let me know she had a special day planned for us to go to Brookgreen gardens and have lunch. She had gone with a friend of hers a few months ago and "thought it would be fun for us to go together." After we had finished eating, the waitress came over with a note for me, saying that lunch had been paid for by Josh. I was stunned at this point and opened the letter to find a poem leading me to a certain part of the property. My mom grinned as I turned to her and said "JOSH IS HERE." She peeled off as we walked down a beautiful row of trees dressed in Spanish moss. Emerging from behind one of these giants, was my handsome man. He popped the question, to which I managed to squeak out an excited yes, before being whisked away to celebrate with my parents and his sister who served as our photographer for the day. We followed all of this up by a surprise engagement party the following day back in Huntersville, NC, with plenty of food, friends, and flashing that blangggg. (P.S. The ring contains diamonds from my mother, grandmother, and a dear friend - SO special!)
