Anna and Tom first crossed paths as wide-eyed classmates at Oregon Health & Science University, a place where dreams of stethoscopes and lab coats danced in their heads. In weekly study sessions their interest in each other first piqued, and soon they began rock climbing and hanging out as friends outside of the classroom. One fateful 4th of July barbecue, as they sizzled burgers on the grill, sparks flew between them, and it wasn't just from the fireworks overhead. They stared into each other's eyes, trying to figure out if it was love or just the heat from the barbecue. Spoiler alert: it was definitely love. Anna and Tom knew they wanted to spend their lives together after catching their first salmon together in September 2021 and Tom proposed in April 2022 on a hike in the Columbia River Gorge, to really lean into the PNW stereotype. Tom now works as a resident physician in anesthesia at OHSU and Anna will begin her family medicine residency at OHSU in June. They live together in Portland with their cats, Sunny and Biscuit and their dogs, Rico and Lady.
