A NYE to Remember
Sam and Anna had no idea that NYE going into 2020 would change everything. It all began at Curt and Melissa Detjen's wedding—the first time their kids and their friends were together in one place.
The real party began at the Cambria Hotel pool in Appleton after the wedding. Sam saw an opportunity to impress Anna. His plan? To teach her how to tread water.
But what Sam didn’t know was that Anna wasn’t just a casual swimmer—she was a D1 athlete and had spent her whole life by water. Naturally, she wasn’t one bit interested. But he was persistent and cracked jokes and shared stories until, by early morning, Anna was intrigued. There was something about Sam that made her smile.
Sam wasn’t ready to let the spark fizzle out. Weeks later, he took a trip to South Dakota to visit Anna. It was a bold move, but it worked. In February, they hung out again at Pickle Fest in Eau Claire. There was no denying that they were just friends anymore and they began dating that weekend!
